This includes providing support to veterans and Gold Star Families, contributing to their well-being and resilience. By fostering unity and collaboration, we strive to honor the sacrifices made in service to our nation and inspire positive change for our Veteran community.

About Us

The Michael Wayne Hanks Legacy Foundation was founded in December 2023 by a family deeply connected to service, sacrifice, and the enduring impact of those who gave their lives in defense of our country. Named in honor of Lance Corporal Michael Wayne Hanks, who was killed in action during the Battle of Fallujah, the foundation is committed to supporting the veteran and Gold Star family communities while preserving the legacy of Michael and countless others who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Fallujah Reunion Mixer

  • The Michael Wayne Hanks Legacy Foundation is proud to sponsor a mixer for veterans of Operation Phantom Fury (the Second Battle of Fallujah). This mixer will take place the night before their 20-year reunion, which will be held at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia.   • Lance Corporal Michael Wayne Hanks will be posthumously inducted into the Michigan Military and Veterans Hall of Honor. Accepting the induction medal on his behalf will be his father, Mike Hanks, alongside his niece, PFC Makiah Gladstone, who serves in the Michigan National Guard and as a board member of the Michael Wayne Hanks Legacy Foundation.
